Quick fixes for installing, activating and using Raptor, plus orders and Raptor Run.
Installing
I installed Raptor but it doesn't show up in my DAW
Your DAW needs to rescan its plugins after a new install. Close and reopen it first, then:
- Ableton Live Settings → Plug-Ins → turn on Use VST3 Plug-In System Folders and click Rescan. Raptor is under Plug-Ins → Kare Beats.
- FL Studio Options → Manage plugins → Find installed plugins. Tick the star next to Raptor so it shows in your effects list.
- Logic Pro Logic Pro → Settings → Plug-in Manager → select Raptor → Reset & Rescan Selection. It appears under Audio Units → Kare Beats.
- Studio One Options → Locations → VST Plug-ins → Reset Blacklist, then restart.
- Reaper Options → Preferences → Plug-ins → VST → Re-scan.
- Cubase / Nuendo Studio → VST Plug-in Manager → Rescan All. Check the Blocklist tab too.
- Bitwig Settings → Locations → make sure the VST3 folder is listed, then restart.
- GarageBand Restart GarageBand. Raptor is under Audio Units → Kare Beats.
- Pro Tools Quit and reopen Pro Tools (it scans plugins when it starts). Raptor is in the insert menu under Multichannel Plug-in → Other.
Still missing? Check the file is actually in your plugin folder (see where Raptor installs) and that your DAW supports the format (see formats).

Raptor is Mac only for now, in VST3, AU and AAX formats.
That covers Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, GarageBand, Studio One, Reaper, Cubase, Bitwig and most other Mac DAWs.
Windows: not available yet. Join the email list to hear when it is.
Copy link to this answerWhere does Raptor install?
The installer puts Raptor in the standard plugin folders:
-
Mac VST3
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/ -
Mac AU
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/ -
AAX (Pro Tools)
/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/
If your DAW scans a custom folder, either add these folders to it or copy Raptor into yours.

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway next to the Raptor message. Then run the installer again.
If Logic says Raptor failed validation, open Plug-in Manager, select Raptor and click Reset & Rescan Selection.

Copy link to this answerWhere do I download Raptor after buying?
The download link is in your order confirmation email. You can also find it any time by signing in to your account on karebeats.com and opening your order.
Can't find either? Email karetracks@gmail.com with the email you used at checkout.

I never got my serial
Your serial comes in a separate email from your order confirmation, usually within a few minutes.
- Check your spam, junk and Promotions folders. Search your inbox for “Raptor” or “Kare Beats”.
- Make sure you're looking in the inbox for the email you typed at checkout. A typo there is the most common reason it never shows up.
- Still nothing after an hour? Email karetracks@gmail.com with your order number and we'll resend it by hand.
Activation failed
- Check your internet. Raptor needs to be online once to activate. After that it works offline.
- Copy and paste the whole serial straight from the email. Extra spaces are fine, but a missing character isn't.
- Firewall or antivirus? Allow Raptor (or your DAW) to connect, or pause it for a minute while you activate.
- Studio computer with no internet? Connect it once to activate, even briefly, and then you can take it offline again.
Still stuck? Email karetracks@gmail.com with your serial and a screenshot of the error.
Copy link to this answerIt says I've used up my 2 computers
Each serial works on 2 computers. This message usually means you got a new computer, reinstalled your system, or used Raptor on a studio machine.
Email karetracks@gmail.com with your serial and we'll reset your activations. It only takes a minute.
Next time you switch computers, click Deactivate in Raptor on the old one first to free up the spot.
A big macOS update or a full reinstall can sometimes make Raptor think it's on a new computer. Same fix: just email us.
Copy link to this answerIs there a Windows version?
Not yet. Raptor is Mac only for now. Join the Kare Beats email list and you'll be the first to know when Windows is ready.
Copy link to this answerHow do I move Raptor to a new computer?
- On the old computer, open Raptor and click Deactivate.
- Install Raptor on the new computer and activate it with the same serial.
Old computer already gone? Email karetracks@gmail.com and we'll free up the spot.

What do Hatchling, Raptor and Meteor do?
They're the randomizer. Hatchling nudges a few settings, Raptor changes about half, and Meteor rerolls everything at once.
Copy link to this answerHow do I stop the randomizer from changing a knob I like?
Click the little padlock under that knob. Locked knobs stay put no matter which randomizer button you hit. Click it again to unlock.
Copy link to this answerA Meteor roll got really loud or harsh
Meteor can land on extreme settings, which is half the fun. Keep your monitors at a sensible level while you roll, and use the dry/wet control to blend the effect back in. If you find a setting you love, lock those knobs with the padlock before rolling again.
Copy link to this answerHow do presets work?
Step through presets with the triceratops arrows at the top, and save your own with the fossil icon.
Copy link to this answerCan I use more than one Raptor in a session?
Yes. Each instance runs on its own. If you ever hear something odd with several Raptors running together, please email karetracks@gmail.com with your DAW and what happened so we can fix it.
Copy link to this answerCan I use Raptor on songs I release?
Yes. Anything you make with Raptor is yours to release, sell and license. No credit needed (but we'd love to hear it).

Raptor is using a lot of CPU
- Turn on Animation OFF (Saves CPU load) in Raptor's settings. The animated displays are the heaviest part.
- Close Raptor's window when you're not looking at it. The animations stop when it's closed.
- On older laptops, raise your DAW's buffer size to 512 or 1024 samples while mixing.
- Running lots of instances? Put Raptor on a bus or send and feed several tracks into it.
I found a bug or my DAW crashed
Sorry about that. Please email karetracks@gmail.com with:
- Your DAW and its version
- Your macOS version and Mac model
- What you were doing when it happened (screenshots or a short video help a lot)
We read every report and fix things fast.
Copy link to this answerRaptor's window looks too big, too small or cut off
Close the plugin window and open it again. If it still looks wrong, email us your DAW and screen size (and a screenshot) and we'll take a look.

Can I get a refund?

How does the Raptor Run prize work?
The first 10 people to beat Raptor Run win a free copy of Raptor. Beat the game, click Claim my spot, and enter your email. Every run is checked, and winners get their copy by email when Raptor launches.
